The commuter hotspots with the fastest rates of price increases
Strong house price growth has been observed in the affordable commuter areas surrounding two northern cities

According to recent research, average asking prices for homes in Glasgow and Manchesters commuter hubs have skyrocketed over the past year.

Rightmove, a real estate portal, examined the rise in asking prices in commuter towns connected to London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, and Cardiffsix of Britain's biggest cities.

Ten of the top 15 fastest-growing hotspots are found in commuter areas near Glasgow and Manchester, which have the strongest asking price growth of all the cities examined.

According to Rightmove, asking prices are decreasing in some more expensive locations but increasing the fastest in more reasonably priced commuter areas.

"Asking prices are rising strongly as buyers look for value within reach of major cities in the more affordable locations around Glasgow and Manchester," she said.

"In the meantime, some of the more costly commuter hotspots are seeing price reductions, which may open doors for buyers who were previously priced out.

It serves as a reminder to anyone thinking about moving that there are frequently more options and better value for money when looking a little farther outside of major cities."

The list of commuter hotspots with the fastest rising asking prices is dominated by Glasgow and the North.

Falkirk, a Glasgow commuter town, had the largest annual change in asking prices among the cities on the list, rising by 13.5 percent.

According to Rightmove in August, the average asking price for a home in the town is currently 183,596, which is slightly less than the average asking price in Scotland of 199,888.

The city is "an attractive choice for buyers because it offers a combination of affordability, strong transport links and excellent family amenities," according to Clark Gillespie, director of Falkirk real estate firm Forth and Clyde Property.

The town is "a practical option for commuters who want to stay connected to major cities while getting more for their money" because of its excellent transport connections to neighboring hubs like Edinburgh and Stirling.

The list of commuter hotspots with the fastest-growing asking prices outside of Falkirk is dominated by towns close to Glasgow, with six locations ranking in the top 15.

Strong increases in asking prices have also been observed in a number of Manchesters commuter towns, four of which are among the top 15.

The average asking price for a home in Rochdale has increased to 238,115 over the last year, the second-fastest rate among those examined. The suburb's asking prices are lower than the North West's average, which Rightmove reported was 273,421 in August.

St Helens (7.8 percent), Wigan (6.2 percent), and Stalybridge (5.6 percent) are other prominent commuter towns in Manchester with rapidly rising asking prices.
