We examine the most sought-after London boroughs in 2025 Every year, a plethora of people relocate to or within Britain's capital, but which area is the most popular?

Whether for work, education, or to be nearer to friends and family, thousands of people relocate to or within the UK capital every year.

There are many different places to pick from because Greater London is home to about 9 million people and covers an area of more than 600 square miles.

The home moving comparison website CompareMyMove analyzed data from more than 23,000 home moves to determine the locations of people who decided to relocate in London between January and September 2025.

According to the analysis, when deciding where in the capital to relocate, movers heavily favor South London, with the most sought-after borough being situated relatively close to the city center.

However, according to Halifax, the borough is not inexpensive; rent and home values are higher than the London average of 543,497.

London boroughs that are most popular in 2025.

South London is by far the most sought-after neighborhood in the capital; according to data from CompareMyMoves, seven of the top ten boroughs are located there.

Wandsworth. .

Thames River and Battersea Power Station.

With 4 out of 76 percent of those relocating to or within the capital choosing Wandsworth, it was the most sought-after London borough to date in 2025.

Known for its expansive green spaces and residential streets, the borough was named the London Borough of Culture for 2025. With a population of about 329,677, it extends from Battersea to Tooting.

Additionally, it is the location of Battersea Power Station, a decommissioned power plant that was converted into a shopping mall in 2022 and is now a popular tourist destination.

Wandsworth's average home costs 691,000, which is significantly more than the average for London, and renters pay an average of 2,526 per month to live there, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The bright side is that Wandsworth residents pay the lowest council tax rates in London, ranging from 660 to 1,980 annually.

Tower Hamlets. .

Canary Wharf and the Thames River....

In 2025, the second-most sought-after London borough for relocation is Tower Hamlets. The region accounted for 4 out of 55 percent of their London moves, according to data from CompareMyMove.

The borough, which borders Hackney to the north, is home to about 325,000 people and extends from Tower Bridge to Canary Wharf.

In addition to Canary Wharf, a significant financial hub, Tower Hamlets includes a large portion of London's historic East End.

The ONS reports that the average rent in this borough is 2,370 per month, while the average price of a home is 491,000, which is much less than the average for London.

"Brent."

Wembley Stadium is located behind Brent homes.

According to 4 out of 5 users of CompareMyMoves who moved to or within London, Brent is the third most sought-after borough in the city.

Although the borough is officially included in West London as per the London Plan, it contains places like Wembley and Willesden that are typically thought of as belonging to north-west London.

Wembley Stadium, the home of English football, is the most well-known landmark in Brent, but there are also other notable sites, such as Neasden Temple, a Hindu temple that was formerly the biggest outside of India.

According to ONS data, a month's rent in Brent is approximately 1,948, and the average house costs 536,000, which is slightly less than the average for London.

In Southwark.

As of 2025, 4 out of 6 people moving to or within London have chosen the borough of Southwark, demonstrating how popular it is among CompareMyMoves users.

In addition to the Tate Modern art gallery, London Bridge, and Borough, Southwark encompasses a sizable portion of the south bank of central London and extends as far south as Crystal Palace.

According to the ONS, a month's rent usually costs 2,347, and the average house in the borough costs 582,000, which is more than the average for London.

The Croydon.

The heart of Croydon.

Croydon, which 3.83 percent of CompareMyMoves customers who relocated to or within London chose as their new home, rounds out the top five most sought-after London boroughs.

In the north, Croydon borders Streatham Common, while in the south, it is an outer borough of South London that borders Surrey.

The borough is home to the Crystal Palace Football Club's home stadium, Selhurst Park, the Croydon Clocktower museum, and the BRIT school, a creative arts institution that has produced a plethora of British performers, such as Adele, Amy Winehouse, Tom Holland, and many more.

According to the ONS, a month's rent in Croydon averages 1,534, and the average house costs 400,000, which is significantly less than the city's average.
