Two fortunate savers became overnight millionaires when NSandamp;I revealed the winners of the September Premium Bonds prize draw
Were you successful this month?
When two fortunate savers won the September Premium Bonds jackpot, they instantly became millionaires.
The two winners are based in Cumbria and County Durham, according to NS&I.
Before winning this month's prize draw with bond number 224BZ748917, the winner from Country Durham had 50,000 in Premium Bonds, making it the county's fifth jackpot win. June 2014 was when they purchased their winning bond.
Meanwhile, bond number 243VC581367 paid out a million dollars to the second Cumbrian jackpot winner. They are the county's 12th millionaire from Premium Bonds. The saver had a total of 50,000 held in Premium Bonds prior to their big win this month, and they had purchased their winning bond in April 2015.
Agent Million, an anonymous NS&I employee who travels the nation to tell jackpot winners of their good fortune, will have told both of these savers about their newfound wealth.
Not only did September's prize draw create two millionaires, though. A total of over 397 million has been won by millions of other savers this month, including 2,797 who received high-value prizes ranging from 5,000 to £1 million.
The Essex saver who won £100,000 from a bond they purchased in December 2024 had only 350 Premium Bonds.
Twelve additional savers, including one from Birmingham, won £100,000 from bonds they bought in the previous 12 months. The most recent month in which the prize draw was open was July 2025.
"Congratulations to our two new jackpot winners from County Durham and Cumbria who each won one million in September's draw," said Andrew Westhead, retail director for NS&I. For holders of Premium Bonds, this month has been amazing, and we're giving out over six million more prizes.
To make sure they don't miss out on prize notifications, we also want to remind all Bond holders to keep their contact information current with us.
As of right now, 2,629,312 Premium Bond prizes totaling 106,604,800 are still pending claim.

This month's draw featured 132,593,956,732 eligible bonds, and the winners were chosen at random.
In addition to the two jackpot winners, 303 savers received 25,000, 150 received 50,000, and 76 received 100,000.

For the September draw, 3point 6 percent was the prize fund rate, or the average rate of returns for a person with average luck.
The interest rate paid by Premium Bonds is not fixed like that of other savings accounts. Rather, each time you save one, you have a one in twenty-two chance of winning one of the monthly prizes.
Because you are not required to pay taxes on your profits, Premium Bonds are a good way to shield your savings from the tax collector.
How to determine whether you were the winner of the September Premium Bonds prize draw.
Starting tomorrow, September 2, savers can see if they have won any money in the September prize draw.
You can use the NS&I app, website, or even an Amazon Alexa to see if you have won anything.
