You're not alone if you recently sold a house and it seemed like it took forever. Currently, the average time to find a buyer and finish a property sale in Great Britain is 216 days.
According to Rightmove, it takes an average of 62 days to find a buyer in England, Wales, and Scotland, and 154 days to complete a purchase in June.
At an average of 169 days, sellers of apartments who have found a buyer have the longest wait times. On the other hand, after finding a buyer, owners of terraced and semi-detached homes typically have to wait 149 days to finalize the transaction.
Rightmoves CEO Johan Svanstrom claimed that this summer wait was the longest on record.

According to Rightmove data, delays are even more severe in some regions of the nation. Economic growth and housing mobility are closely related. Stronger information standards, increased digitization of moving journey procedures, and openness to all stakeholders are crucial, he stated.
Longer chains, legal hold-ups, and the difficulties of selling leasehold properties were some of the reasons for the delays in the house-selling process.
According to Rightmove, conveyancing solicitors' heavy caseloads are a major factor in lengthy competition times. According to the portal's own statistics, there are currently 205 billion worth of residential properties for sale on the Rightmove website, which could boost UK economic growth if they are sold.

With an average move-in time of 194 days, the North East of England is the second fastest place to sell a house.
Yorkshire and the Humber is the third fastest, requiring an average of 207 days to relocate.
In all of Great Britain, homes in London take the longest to sell. Rightmove discovered that it takes an average of 70 days to locate a buyer and 174 days to finish a purchase, for a total wait of 244 days, or more than eight months.

How to sell a house more quickly.
According to Nick Mendes, mortgage technical manager at broker John Charcol, preparing and organizing paperwork can save weeks of the house-selling process.
"Title deeds, Energy Performance Certificate, leasehold information, planning or building regulation certificates, all of it should be sat with your conveyancer on day one, not chased up after an offer lands," he advised.
Getting a conveyancer involved before you have a buyer, rather than after, is also worthwhile.
"Too many sellers put off finding a lawyer until after an offer is accepted, which is time you never get back." As soon as a sale is agreed upon, get the ID checks, funding source, and preliminary investigations underway."
By extending a lease through your landlord and requesting management packs as soon as possible, you can expedite the process if you're selling a leasehold property.
Less time left on a lease can make it more difficult to sell a leasehold property, and lenders may be hesitant to give a buyer a mortgage, which can also cause the house-selling process to drag on.
Although they can take weeks to arrive, management packs include information about what the buyer is buying, including insurance and service fees.
Setting a reasonable asking price for your house is essential when listing it for sale, Mendes continued. According to recent Zoopla research, a lot of people are setting the initial price too high, which causes a property to take longer to sellsometimes years.
"Go in too high and have to correct it later, and you've just added time on market and given any chain a chance to fall apart," stated Mendes.
