The financial results of my trading advice in 2025
According to Terry Tanaka, the profits from open positions outweighed the losses from closed ones

2025 has been a strong year for both the FTSE 100 and the SandP 500, both of which have increased by roughly 17 percent, with the British index slightly ahead. My trading advice produced a mixed record, with some significant gains and some significant losses.

In 2026, trading advice was carried over.

Six longs (Marks & Spencer, Harworth, United Airlines, Hilton Food Group, Trainline, and Dominos Pizza Group) and two short-selling tips (Trump Media & Technology Group and Ocado) made up my initial eight tips for 2025.

All of them were closed this year as usual, but it took a little longer than usual for some of my ongoing positions to be closed out early in the year. However, three long positionsthose in United Airlines, Marks & Spencer, and the online ticketing company Trainlinewere closed out in the magazine issue 1252. I lost 196 on M&S and 774 on Trainline, while the United Airlines position turned a profit of 819.

I closed out my short position in Trump Media & Technology Group, which operates Truth Social, President Donald Trump's social media network, in magazine issue 1260, earning 977 in profits. My long-standing jobs at Harworth, a land and property regeneration specialist, and Dominos Pizza Group, the UK master franchise of the pizza delivery chain, were terminated at losses of 204 and 280, respectively, in magazine issue 1264. Ultimately, I closed my long position with food packager Hilton Food Group at a loss of 144 in magazine issue 1270. Additionally, I covered my short at Ocado, an online grocery store, for 1270p, making a profit of 300.

Overall, I lost money on five of my eight suggestions. Even though I had a net income of 498, this was less than what they had at the end of the previous year, when they were making 2,664.

2025 trading tips were made and closed.

In 2025, I made 18 tips (or 19 if you count the pairs trade in magazine issue 1282 as separate tips). During the year, nine were closed. I recommended shorting the buy-now, pay-later business Sezzle in magazine issue 1243. But soon after, the price skyrocketed, and I lost 900 when I closed the magazine issue 1248 position. Lumen Technologies, a telecom company (magazine issue 1245), was a marginally better investment. I closed it with a profit of sixty-six in magazine issue 1280.

Sadly, when I closed the wager in 1282, drone manufacturer Red Cat (magazine issue 1248) was down 600. When it closed in 1277, my lengthy tip on the payments company Corpay (magazine issue 1250) was 456 in the red. When I had to cover Quantum Computing Group IonQ (magazine issue 1252) in 1268, I was 799 in the red. Jumia, an African e-commerce business (magazine issue 1254), also turned out to be a mistake; it closed in 1268 at a loss of 780. AG Barr, a manufacturer of soft drinks and the creator of Irn Bru (magazine issue 1258), defied the trend by closing in 1282 with only forty losses. However, ME Group, a manufacturer of vending machines (magazine issue 1260), was another mistake that cost 517 when it was shut down in 1286.

My recommendation to go long on the computer game company Electronic Arts (magazine issue 1268) turned out to be accurate, and I closed it in magazine issue 1280 after a consortium acquired it, earning an 893 profit. My closed tips resulted in a net loss of 3,133 in total. This is what you would anticipate given that my strategy is to swiftly close underperforming trades, even though it's not ideal.

Ongoing advice.

The good news is that my ongoing advice is getting better. Three of the six long betsBarclays, First Solar, and Airtel Africaare profitable. With a profit of 2,160, the telecom and mobile-payments group Airtel Africa, which we revisited in magazine issue 1264, is the tip of the year. Barclays is turning a profit of 504, while First Solar (1272), a producer of solar panels, is 804 in the black. Sysco, a food service distributor, is losing 132, Dunelm, a retailer of home furnishings, 104, and bitcoin, 413. However, with a net profit of 2,829, the gains greatly exceed the losses.

All four of my current shortsFaraday Future Intelligent Electric, Aurora Innovation, Strategy, and CoreWeaveare doing well and are all in the black. I'm making 362 dollars thanks to Aurora Innovation, a self-driving freight truck specialist. Faraday Future Intelligent Electric, a manufacturer of electric vehicles, is 248 in the black. Strategy, a Bitcoin Treasury Company, is generating 168. CoreWeave, a data-center company, makes 396. A total of 1,691 is being made by the short tips.

The total profit from all of my active positions is £4,520. The stop-losses on Airtel Africa should be raised from 250p to 255p, Dunelm Group to 815p (810p), Sysco to £66 (£65), First Solar to £205 (£200), Barclays to 330p (325p), and bitcoin to £60,000 (£55,000).
